Our masterclass at LSX 2021 on leveraging Biotech Valuations

By | Company update, Valuation | No Comments

Early September 2021, we held the first valuation masterclass at partnering and investor conference LSX. We heard that it became the most attended class which underlines the high interest of successfully using valuation in out-licensing and investor discussions; and the lack of information tailored to the unique Nordic biotech space. Therefore, we are now also running courses to support biotech executives in better understanding and utilizing biotech valuations in crucial negotiations. Watch the masterclass recording or learn more about our valuation courses below.

Join our Fundamentals of Biotech Valuations course to ace valuations in the unique Nordic biotech space. Next session is on October 13, 2021. Sign up here: https://mscnordics.com/product/biotech-valuations-fundamentals/

Team profile: Stine Birk Hansen

Our senior management consultant Stine Birk Hansen joined us earlier this year strengthening our skillset in both strategy and Danish. Having spent many years ‘Down Under’, we’re happy she found her way back to Scandinavia and the ‘best coast’ here in Gothenburg. She comes from a background in business and finance, but once she dipped her toes in the field of life science, she realized there was no turning back to a field with a ‘lesser’ purpose than contributing to making a change for patients in need.

My name is Stine Birk Hansen, and I am happy to be the newest member of the MSC Nordics team. I joined MSC Nordics as Senior Management Consultant in February 2021 following a 2-year relocation and maternity leave as I moved to Sweden with my family in early 2019. After having spent 2 years focused on family and private projects it feels good to be “back in the game” supporting Nordic life science companies to grow and develop their businesses.

Before moving to Sweden, I worked for 4 years as a strategy consultant at KPMG Strategy in Melbourne, Australia where I was focused on the life science and healthcare industries. At KPMG I led strategic engagements to support clients on their growth journeys and unlock operational efficiency improvements by applying a highly fact-driven and collaborative approach. Even though I have always had an interest in life science, my time at KPMG Strategy really spurred a passion for the industry and I knew that I wanted to continue to work with life science companies to make my small contribution to drive the future of medicine. That is why I was extremely excited when the opportunity came to join the MSC Nordics team. Here I have found a niche company that I believe makes a real impact for smaller life science companies in their quest to bring innovative medicines to patients.

I am originally from Denmark and although I really enjoyed living in lovely Melbourne, I am happy to be back in Scandinavia, experiencing proper winter – although a longer summer season would be preferred – and not least being a lot closer to family and friends back home. One of the things we enjoy the most about living in Sweden is the stunning nature that surrounds us. Now that we are more or less stuck in Scandinavia due to the covid-19 pandemic, we are trying to take full advantage and experience what Sweden has to offer, from awesome skiing to the beauties of the archipelago and the cultural history of Gotland.

”Here I have found a niche company that I believe makes a real impact for smaller life science companies in their quest to bring innovative medicines to patients.”

At MSC Nordics, we all have very diverse backgrounds which contributes to a steep learning curve when we work together on projects with clients. Personally, I have a master’s degree in business administration and for the first 8 years of my career I worked in different areas of finance, before transitioning into strategy consulting. Although it has been a pleasure to start working at MSC Nordics, I am yet to meet most of my colleagues, and I think it is an understatement to say that I am looking forward to the day when we can all return to the office and have more in-person social interaction with each other, as well as our awesome clients!

Sincerely,

Stine Birk Hansen
